SSL Certificate for Standalone installation

Hello!,

I would like to have some advices concerning SSL Certificates.

Context:

We have 4 independant websites using different subdomain names on the same installation folder and database.
We have a unique default website in IIS: Default website
To distinguish the domain name, the setup has been done in the SiteManager for each site.

Now, I would like customize 1 page in each website, which will send some informations to a payment provider (Some user informations and amount/currency)

Question:

Choice 1: Do I have to purchase a SSL Certificate for each subdomain name and create independant websites in IIS in order to setup the right SSL certificate on each IIS Website?

Choice 2: Can I only purchase one SSL Certificate and setup it for the default website of my webser? Is this a solution also or a really bad practice?

Thank you for your help!

RE:SSL Certificate for Standalone installation
Hi,

This is not fully related to Kentico - but anyway. I believe that SSL certificates are per domain - as far as I found on Google. However I have found also some articles about Multi-domain SSL certificates - I would recommend to use Google to find out more about this option. Or, find some authority that is issuing the certificates - they will know for sure how it works.

Best regards,

RE:SSL Certificate for Standalone installation

Hello Jurajo,

thank you for your answer.

I know that my question is not totally related with Kentico and I thank you for your answer.

I will then check with my certificate provider.

Have a nice day
