securing files
Hi,

I need to create a folder with file in it that search engine spiders or anyone who can figure out the URL structure can NOT be allowed to download or view these files.

Then I need to create a page in Kentico site that requires authentication, and user
can view a list of specific files from that folder and be able to download them.

another requirement is to have date limits on when files can be downloaded (kind of a publish from - to).

Any ideas on how I can do this?

I tried using media library but was not good enough security wise. need to be able to setup user permission per file.

Many thanks :)

RE:securing files
Hello,

you can configure file permissions on the Properties tab, take a look at the Developers Guide: Security e.g. for authenticated users only.

On the Form tab you can set Publish from and Publish to - date range.

Best regards,
Martin Danko

RE:securing files
ok.
but if files are stored in FILE SYSTEM and someone get the direct url to the actual file, do the permission set in cmsdesk protect that file?

RE:securing files
Hi,

I have tested this and the file is indeed being protected against unauthorized access.

For my testing I used the standart document type File that is used in Corporate site.I created a folder in my tree and added some files in that folder. When I set the permissions to that File in the Security tab the file was inaccessible through url.

Kind regards,
Richard Sustek
