Favicon upload
Hi guys,

Sorry I am reading this forum whole morning but haven't found the answer for my question yet.

I want to upload my favicon.ico to the main directory because I don't know how to switch off the default Kentico behavior that adds the tags.

Once I right click on my root (project name in tree) I cannot add favicon there. The options are only: Page/Existing link/Blog/Folder.

Could you please let me know how to upload the favicon precisely?

Greg

RE:Favicon upload
Hi Greg,

All you need to do is just replace favicon.ico file in the main directory with your own one.

However, the reason it is not changed immediately is probably because favicons are cached in your browser. So clearing cache should do the trick and after that, a correct favicon should be displayed for your website.

RE:Favicon upload
Hello,

Not sure what you mean by "main directory". There is no favicon in the project nowhere. No such file at all (I am saying about virtual structure tree on my left hand side).
I have a full access to the CMS but not to the server where Kentico is placed...

RE:Favicon upload
Hello Greg,

Well, I meant root directory of the project which is placed on server. Nevertheless, there are basically two ways of changing favicon - the first is to replace the default icon and the second one is programatically but I suppose none of them are possible for you since you do not have access to the project directory or code files. You will have to contact your administrator to give you access or he can change the icon himself.

There is also a FavIcon web part available on Kentico Marketplace which is designed exactly for this purpose but it is not for free so I am not sure if it is the best option for you.

Best regards,

RE:Favicon upload
Ok thanks, I will just send the favicon then.
All I wanted to know is if we talking about the server or virtual structure.

Best regards,
Greg
