Do I need a Web Farm?
I've got multiple Kentico sites running under the same domain:

my.domain.com/web1
my.domain.com/web2
my.domain.com/web3

Each site is set up as a virtual application in IIS 7, with all of them having the same home directory (i.e. the Kentico install dirctory).

I have added the sites to Kentico under Site Manager -> Sites, and they all appear to work correctly.

The instructions at http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/index.html?multiple_web_sites_on_a_single_domain.htm recommend setting up a web farm to synchronize global objects.

Could someone give me an example of the kinds of global objects that would be synchronized? These websites share templates and contain shortcuts to each others documents, but otherwise operate as websites independent of each other.

What benefits/drawbacks would I see by setting them up as web farms?

Thanks!

RE:Do I need a Web Farm?
I'm not 100% sure, but I really don't think you need a web farm when your websites exist in the same Kentico installation. I think that's a suggestion for if you have separate installations and you want to synchronize things.

RE:Do I need a Web Farm?
Hi,

I agree. Web farm sync. is used when you are running the same web site in separate installations. In this case, there are different sites in one installation so web farms make no sense.
