Overriding Inherited Fields
Hi,

I'm creating a custom document type that inherits *most* (not all) of the fields from another document type.

Is it possible to hide the fields that I do not want to use from the Form Editor?

(The option is greyed out on inherited fields...)

RE:Overriding Inherited Fields
I just answered my own question.

Set a document to inherit fields from another document type and click save.
Then change the document to 'inherit fields from document type:' (none) - all the previously inherited fields will be retained and become editable.

Sweet!

RE:Overriding Inherited Fields
I had that same question at last year's Kentico Connection when they were showcasing the inheritance feature. They answered with basically what you discovered with the addition of this:

You can sort of "merge inherit" document types by inheriting from one and saving then inherit from another one and save then inherit from "none" and save. You can do this as much as you want to build the document type you want. Obviously, you probably wouldn't need to do many though.
