Google Chrome and PDF's.
We are having an issue with any end user using Google Chrome Browser and any pdf's that have been uploaded to a site and then linked through the insert media button. Then you insert the pdf you get a url like this:

http://somedomain.com/getdoc/7cbea545-c78d-4c7c-b068-fe2e6c4689ba/AntiSpam20Instructions.aspx.

When an end user with Google Chrome clicks on that link it then opens to a blank page and does nothing, it doesnt open up in adobe acrobat or even automatically download. Any suggestions?

RE:Google Chrome and PDF's.
Hi,

Could you please try to disable the “Use permanent URLs” option in CMS Site manager -> Settings -> choose your web site -> URLs and SEO section and try to insert link to your pdf file without permanent URL option?

If this would not help you, could you please configure your web site to use extension-less URLs (http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/configuration_of_extensionless_urls.htm) and then try to change the .aspx extension of inserted link to .pdf ?

Thanks.

Best regards,
Miroslav Remias.

RE:Google Chrome and PDF's.
Hi

Any progress or answers to the above question (we are using kentico 4.0)

Disabling "Use permanent URL's" is already not checked so no luck.

clicking on the PDF on the right hand side will not open the PDF in Chrome.

Any suggestions how to fix this site-wide as there are many pdf's on the site - Changes to IIS are not an option as we are using shared hosting.

thanks

RE:Google Chrome and PDF's.
Hi,

Could you please configure your web site to use extension-less URLs (http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/configuration_of_extensionless_urls.htm) and then try to change the .aspx extension of inserted link to .pdf ?

Could you please also try to store your document attachments on file system and use "Redirect files to disk" option? This could also help you.

However, there were some issues in Kentico CMS regarding pdf files in previous versions of Kentico CMS, so I would recommend you to upgrade to Kentico CMS 5.5 where I’m not able to reproduce this issue even if the link to pdf file contains aspx extension.

Best regards,
