Should I Upgrade SQL and ASP.NET?
I will be upgrading from v4.0 to v5.0 soon.

Should I also take this opportunity to upgrade these as well?

SQL Express 2005 to SQL Express 2008
ASP.NET 2.0 to ASP.NET 3.5

The documentation does not get into these details, so I wanted to know what is the best way to approach this.

RE:Should I Upgrade SQL and ASP.NET?
Hello.

SQL Server 2008 or .NET 3.5 are not necessary for running Kentico CMS 5.0. Anyway, you can upgrade and then move your DB into new server, as it is described e.g. here: http://www.packtpub.com/article/moving-a-database-from-sql-server-2005-to-sql-server-2008-in-three-steps

RE:Should I Upgrade SQL and ASP.NET?
I know that they are not necessary, but I was wondering if anything is gained by doing so? Will I get better performance, a better implemented feature, etc.? e.g. AJAX seems to be better in ASP.NET 3.5.

I guess I would like to start using VS2008 also for my development, so I assumed I needed to upgrade to ASP.NET 3.5.

RE:Should I Upgrade SQL and ASP.NET?
Hello,

Well, this is rather question for Microsoft, but I think that new versions of these products are better than the previous ones (there are new functions) so I would recommend upgrading these products as well. You can find more information using google or e.g. on Microsoft's MSDN discussion boards and forums.
