Versioning without Workflow
Is it possible to have versioning work without an active workflow on a site in the 5.x versions?

Or alternately, is there a way to have a workflow minus the Publish step to allow for versioning without having to go through the Publish step?

Hi,

versioning is closely connected with workflow. Therefore it cannot be used separately in the current version. This feature could be available in one of next versions.

You can create a custom handler that will publish documents automatically. How to create the custom handler is described here:

Yes. Since Kentico CMS 6.0 it is possible to use versioning without workflow.
