How to edit page title and description
Good day.

I have a site from client with already installed CMS.

There are only few pages.

I can't change titles on pages. If I click on Page Properties - Metadata I can't uncheck inherit from page title.

If I click on it the page is just reloads and the checkbox is still checked.

Where to look??

Hello,

I've checked our version history and so far, there haven't been any bugs reported on this. Could you please let me know which version and hot fix number you are using? Could you please also try to perform the same task on a different browser or pc?

Best regards,
Boris Pocatko

Hi,

I'm having the same problem, I'm running v5.5.3803.

Has anyone else reported this problem since? Is there a fix?

Thanks,

Try doing it using other browsers. The ticking is just a form control, so I'm wondering if there's something weird with the browser you're using.

There IS some javascript on the controls, so doublecheck to make sure you have javascript enabled in the browser.

Then try doing it using the Firefox and debug the javascript with firebug.

Cheers,
Lance

Thanks for the suggestion, sorry for the slow reply... have been out of the country.

I can see the following error when I debug the javascript (along with a number of 404 errors on ScriptResource.axd

[11:36:17.687] GET http://www.testnorthwest.co.uk/CMSModules/Content/FormControls/Tags/TagSelectorService.asmx/js [HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error 52ms]

P.S. I've tried this on Safari, Chrome and Firefox, all with the same results. The briefly greys out and shows a loading animation, and once it's disappeared, the checkboxes are back.

RE:How to edit page title and description
This is clearly something screwed up in the install that I had... copied all of the files from another site I had running v5.5.3996 R2 which wasn't encountering the problems, updated the connection string, and the site is now fixed.

I'd suggest someone at Kentico check the install that the Microsoft web app gallery is using, I've encountered this issue on at least 2 websites that I've deployed, both were installed from the hosting control panel using the MS web app gallery.

Hello,

I've downloaded and installed Kentico from the Microsoft Web App Gallery and it seems to be working just fine. It is possible, that this was caused by some problems with the web.config file, however as I said, I wasn't able to reproduce it on my end and I used Firefox v. 4. I debugged also the javascript and there were also no errors displayed. I would recommend you to compare the web.config files from the isntallation which is working and which isn't and try to replace them.

Best regards,

RE:How to edit page title and description
Hi Boris,

I'll do this now... just setup another website for a customer using the web app gallery (as it makes it so much quicker as part of the process of getting customer's site setup) and found the same problem again. Fortunately a google search managed to bring me back to here to find out how I fixed it last time.

When I do the install however, I make no changes to the web.config beyond adding the connectionstring as it instructs.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks,

Kurt

Hi Boris,

Thought I'd include you on the results of my checks.

I've got another site running v5.5.3789 which works fine, whilst my web app gallery one, running v5.5.3803 doesn't work.

I've replaced the broken site's web.config altogether with that of the working site updating the connection string. I took backups and everything in case it broke the site. Didn't have any effect.

RE:How to edit page title and description
Hello,

Could you please post the web.config somewhere (e.g. rapidshare or pastebin) so I can take a closer look at it if that's what is causing the issue? Please don't forget to alter the connection string so no important data gets leaked.

Best regards,
