Patching an installation
Where can I tell what version/hotfixes are on a kentico installation, and how do I apply a patch to an existing installation?

I've googled, searched documentation, everything, and I can't seem to find anything on these items.

RE:Patching an installation
Hello.

You can see version / hotfix number on several places.

- On CMSDesk / CMSSiteManager logon screen
- In CMSDesk / CMSSiteManager user interface, in upper-right corner of a screen
- In Site Manager / Support / Submit support issue / System information section
- When open <domain>/CMSPages/GetCMSVersion.aspx page.

Relation between build number and hotfix version you can see on http://devnet.kentico.com/Blogs/Juraj-Ondrus.aspx

As for how to apply hotfix – instructions are included in every hotfix package. You can download it from http://devnet.kentico.com/Bugtracker/Hotfixes.aspx

Best Regards,

RE:Patching an installation
I have a related question:

Can I apply the hotfix files first, to a freshly installed instance in which the database hasn't been created yet, and then run the database creation wizard?

If so, will it still be necessary to run the hotfix sql script on the newly created database, or is the wizard itself patched to create the new database correctly?

Thanks.

RE:Patching an installation
Hello,

We don't recommend such an approach. The wizard won't be patched to create a "hotfixed" database. You need to install a copy of Kentico at first together with the database and apply the whole hotfix according to the instructions afterwards.
