deployment best practices
Hello,

What is the best practice for deployment to the live server? Let's say i create some pages, web parts, and custom tables on my local machine. The Kentico 5.0 Dev Documentation shows two ways to deploy the changes: 1) export/import the whole site, and 2) upload the folder to the site via ftp along with database restore from dev to live.

However, if export/import is used, doesn't that delete new pages that were created on the live server? (like blog posts, news posts, etc)

Also, with the 2nd method, doesn't that overwrite new entries in the database?

RE:deployment best practices
Hello.

When using export/import feature, existing objects are not override. I would recommend you to export/import new objects only. If you want to transfer document and object changes to another server or make a complete synchronization of documents and objects from one server to another, I would recommend you use Content staging module (please see our Developer´s guide -> Modules -> Content staging).
