compatibility view problems with my site
Hello Kentico.

I am using the free version 4.1 and I have the following question for you.
I have made a website based on the corporate site template.
Now are my visitors complaining that some parts of the website are not functioning well. Fx. the menu bar and the newsletter subscription box, etc..
I found out that it has something to do with the compatibility view option in Internet Explorer.
If you activate this you don't have the problem, but many people doesn't know this.
Do you have a better solution for this?

Thanks in advance.

Edwin

RE:compatibility view problems with my site
Hello,

The compatibility view shouldn't be necessary since the 4.1 version. For more information please see the following post:

Couuld you please describe the issues closer?

RE:compatibility view problems with my site
Hi Boris.

I have testet it and indeed it's working.
I have created a new website "based on the corporate site template" in mine Kentico version 4.1. and it works without any problems if the compatibility view is not turned on.

But my problem is, that I have made the other website in version 3.1.a, there after I have installed the 4.1 version. And finally I have imported the 3.1.a website in my new 4.1 Kentico version.

So without the compatibility view turned on, the menu bar isn't shown, the "latest news" box is not working properly (The news items are not changing) and the "newsletter subscription" box isn't shown very well.

Is there maybe a way to solve this problem?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Edwin

RE:compatibility view problems with my site
Hello,

The regular way to upgrade is to upgrade the site directly, not to import it, bacause some of the webparts may be slightly changed to fit the needs of new browsers.

RE:compatibility view problems with my site
Hello Boris.

Do you maybe have a fix for this?

I have now installed version 3.1.a again, because I wanted to import the sites in this version, and afterwards I want to upgrade the right way to version 4.1.
But now I get an errormessage, that it's not possible to import a site from a newer version (4.1)!!

Hope to hear from you how to solve this problem.

Greetings Edwin

RE:compatibility view problems with my site
Hi,

There is no fix for this since it is really not possible to import sites from newer version into older versions. You need to upgrade the 3.1a CMS to 4.0 and then to 4.1 at first and then you can import the site.

RE:compatibility view problems with my site
Hi Boris.

Sorry, but I ment is there a fix for the compatibility view problem.
I have made the website in version 3.1.a, a couple of months later I removed this version and installed version 4.1, then I imported the site I have made in version 3.1.a.

So now it is impossible for me to upgrade the site from version 3.1.a to version 4.1, because the site is allready version 4.1 (I made some changes on the site under version 4.1, and saved and exported the site)

Hope you can help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

RE:compatibility view problems with my site
Hello,

Regrettably this isn't possible. You could try to importthe export back to 3.1a and make the upgrades but I am not aware of anyone trying this or succeeding. I would suggest you to use the old backup file and proceed as suggested, with the upgrade and re-create the changes on the upgraded version.
