Trouble moving from evaluation to free license
Hi guys,

My 30-day evaluation period has just run out, and so I decided to move to a free license so that I can keep playing around with the CMS. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have been a workable solution, as I keep getting license restriction errors. I'm also not getting anything useful that can tell me what I need to change or disable in order to make it work - the error on the CMSDesk tells me to look in the event log, but that gives me messages such as:

Event ID: 2811
Event type: Warning
Event time: 3/15/2010 9:05:31 AM
Source: Editors
Event code: LICENSELIMITATION
User name: administrator
IP address: 127.0.0.1

Description: Editors

Machine name: A10408
Event URL: /KenticoCMS/CMSModules/Content/CMSDesk/Default.aspx

This means absolutely nothing to me, so can someone please point me in the right direction so that I can get back to playing around with the site? I'm trying to make a copy of our existing website in KenticoCMS so I can present it to the boss when we finally get approval to ditch our current solution.

Cheers,

Seona.

RE:Trouble moving from evaluation to free license
Hi Seona,

if you want to evaluate all features we may extend your 30-days trial. Please send a request to sales@kentico.com if you need more time.

However, this error relates to restriction of free edition with number of editors. Please see the conditions here: http://www.kentico.com/cms-asp-net-features/Feature-Matrix.aspx

You may delete the editors in Site manager -> Administration -> Users and then your site will be accessible.

Best regards,
Helena Grulichova

RE:Trouble moving from evaluation to free license
Aha! So that was the problem! I was thinking it might have been something to do with having a workflow set up, and I was beside myself trying to figure out how to disable it when I couldn't log into the CMS Desk.

What I might do it run it as a free version for now while I try to get everything set up, then when I'm getting ready to actually present it to my boss (not sure when that will be) I might ask for a brief trail extension so I can show off all the funky features.

Cheers,

Seona.

RE:Trouble moving from evaluation to free license
Actually, correction. I've removed all the other editors I created when I was experimenting with teh workflows, and even removed the new "publisher" role I created, but it still gives me the same error.

Any suggestions about what else might be causing it? I've had a look through that matrix and I can't think of anything else that I've gone overboard on - I don't have any forms or polls yet, nor any e-commerce stuff.

Cheers,

Seona.

Argh! Ignore that last post (since it won't let me delete it). Must have just been a caching issue as I absently hit refresh one last time and it started working. Go figure.
