Thanks for replying. I do have both directories where you say they should be.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding, what I want to do is add community functionality to an already existing site, not create a new one.

I tried installing another site using the community templates, in the hope that the templates and webparts would be added to all sites - well, they were added but only to the commuinity site. I can go into each item in the site manager and add each one manually to our demo site, but is there a way to just import the templates and things into an allready-existing site?
