500 - Internal server error

I'm attempting to install the software on my hosting package but don't seem to be getting very far.

As per the instructions I have a local installation that I have copied to a virtual directory on my hosting package.

As soon as I go to the main website page I get:

500 - Internal server error.

The same happens if I try to load the install page.

I cannot even upload an image and access it until I rename the web.config file - there is something in there that is preventing the site from working it seems.

I've read (but perhaps missed someting ) everything in the installation guide.

I know next to nothing about web development hence attemtping to use this 'no programming requred' solution but seem to have come across a development issue already :-)

My hosting provider is running IIS7, ASP.NET 3.5, Server 2008 etc.

Any pointers?

Thank you for your message.

This seems to be rather server configuration issue, not a development issue.
At first, please try to find as much as possible about this error in your web server event log, if you have access to it.
Then, also please check if your virtual directory and IIS are configured according to instructions from DevGuide, e.g. at Creating a virtual directory and optionally IIS configuration on Win 7 or 2008 R2

Does your hosting provider give any requirements/restrictions for the web.config file?
