Google sitemap is empty for some sites, and missing entries for some other sites
In some of the sites in our single hosting application instance the Google sitemaps do not have any <url> entries, even though these sites have many nodes/documents, all of them published.

All sites have the CMS.Root document type assigned (by default) and the transformation CMS.Root.GoogleSiteMap is present and not changed from the default transformation as it was installed. There are no error messages, just an empty <urlset>.

Example of an empty sitemap
Example of a sitemap missing documents (does not contain all documents in the site).

As you can see from the url, we changed the global setting Google sitemap url from googlesitemap.xml to googlesitemap.aspx.

Any idea what could be the cause of this problem?

Another example for an e-commerce site is here. That site has over ahundred products and over a thousand product images.

Although that site is crawled by Google and others on a regular basis, it's still really important to have a correct sitemap to have more control over this process.

Thanks for looking!

Hi,

What are the google site map control settings in ~\CMSPages\GoogleSiteMap.aspx file?
By default only Page (menu) items document types (classnames) are listed.

You can find several forum threads with this topic on this DevNet portal and also there is a knowledge base article available.

If you could provide us with more details about your settings we will appreciate it.

Thank you.

Best regards,
