Shared folder installation
I installed Kentico (v5.0.3656) on WS2003; the site is pointing to a shared folder.
Sometimes I get the following exception:
An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed to start monitoring changes to '\\server\folder$\cmssitemanager\administration\eventlog' because the network BIOS command limit has been reached. For more information on this error, please refer to Microsoft knowledge base article 810886. Hosting on a UNC share is not supported for the Windows XP Platform.

Usually, I get it after using quite much the CMSDesk subpages; the specified subfolder changes, depending on what I'm working on.

I ask my system administrator, who told me it is due to the fact that Kentico opens too many connections against the shared file system.

How can I avoid this error? The registry key mentioned in the KB 810886 is already set to 1000.

Many thanks
Regards
Emanuele Firmani

RE:Shared folder installation
Hi,

Could you please confirm that the web project folder pemrissions are set correctly for given user account under which is the application/application pool running?

Could you please also check these:

RE:Shared folder installation
The permissions are correctly set: the ApplicationPool user has administrator grants on the root folder.

The links you sent me refer to a configuration of the registry. Our server administrators modified those values and stopped receiving the mentioned error.
Just one question: why were we getting that error? Does Kentico open connection to folders without closing them when done?

Many thanks

RE:Shared folder installation
Hi,

I have checked some of the code and everywhere where something is made with folders, dispose command is called to close the connection. So, I assume that it was some kind of server related issue or maybe .Net framework problem.

Unable to Logon
Hi,

I am new for Kentico CMS. Using first time.

we have installed KenticoCMS on our Domain Server. Now we are remotely accessing it from there. My administrator has created individual user Ids for everyone.

I have my own User Id. I can access only one website with my own page. I was working well till noon. I was working on languageselection webpart. but now I am having problem to logon with my User ID. Even I am not able to see proper page design. only some letters are showing with any images.

I am using it through our domains ip address

http://domainipaddress/KenticoCMS/CMSPages/logon.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fKenticoCMS%2fCMSDesk%2fdefault.aspx

http://domainipaddress/KenticoCMS/CMSSiteManage/default.aspx

I was successfully doing that at earlier but now I have wasted my whole day but not able to logon.

Please help me .

RE:Unable to Logon
Hello,

The only way how to reset your password is to login as an administrator and change it manually or to access the database table CMS_User and delete the entry in the coulumn UserPassword in the row with your User name.
