Installation on Hosting Site can't find virtual web site pages.
I am having a problem where my virtual pages are not being found on an offsite host server.

The process I went through was that I first installed KenticoCMS 5.5 on the offsite host server. I then performed a "save all virtual objects to disk" function on my locally hosted installation, followed by an export of my website. (The web host is a medium trust installation.)

Upon the import of my site to the offsite host server, it seems to have all of the data, that is to say, the "Home" page comes up, albeit missing some of the images.

However, the only page that displays is what ever page I set to be the "Default Alias Path".

I know that all of my pages are there, because what ever page I set as the Default Alias Path, shows up when I go to the URL.

Am I missing a setting which would allow KenticoCMS to resolve the virtual pages on my website?

I have looked at the host's web management page and see nothing that appears to be a solution. (windstreamhosting.com)

Hello,

Just to be sure, are you following this guide?

http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/index.html?configuration_for_medium_trust_environment.htm

Could you please post the exact error messages you are getting? If there aren't any, could you please post some screenshots of the problem?

Best regards,

RE:Installation on Hosting Site can't find virtual web site pages.
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. This move to an offsite host was part of a switch to a new voice/data provider and I had other issues to resolve.

Yes, I followed the Medium Trust Guide you referenced, but still have no success.

Anyway, the message I get is the HTTP 404 File Not Found message.

Does the .htaccess file need to be utilized in a shared hosting/medium trust environment, for KenticoCMS?

RE:Installation on Hosting Site can't find virtual web site pages.
Hello,

Could you please check with your hosting provider, if there is everything installed to run Kentico?
If yes, could you plese check, what application pool is used? The classic application pool can cause some issues, however with the integrated everything works as expected.

We have checked to see that all of the required resources have been allocated and started. They have.

I am not sure (nor is the hosting provider) what, specifically, the classic application pool is, versus the integrated application pool.

Does this refer to Windows, IIS, .NET, ASP.NET or MSSQL Server? How does one switch from the classic application pool to the integrated application pool?

Hello,

The application pool is set up in the IIS. For more information please check the following Microsoft documentation. For more details about the classic and intergrated mode please check out the following forum.

RE:Installation on Hosting Site can't find virtual web site pages.
My hosting provider has reprovisioned my site to a server using an integrated application pool.

However, instead of getting better, things have gotten worse.

Now I am getting the following error.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Any ideas?

RE:Installation on Hosting Site can't find virtual web site pages.
Hello,

It seems, that you have installed and develpoed the site in Kentico for .NET 4.0, but your hosting provider supports just .NET 2.0. This is a common .NET error. Could you please try to search for a solution on the web. Some suggestions, how to solve it, are posted here.

Best regards,
