SMTP SSL/NON-SSL Server failed
If I go to Administration -> System -> E-Mail and try to send an email I get:

Using SSL:

The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.

Without SSL:

Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: Access denied - Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)

How do I ignore the certificate with SSL or ignore/fix the HELO?

I can send emails using outlook with the same settings.

RE:SMTP SSL/NON-SSL Server failed
Hi,

This seems to be your environment based issue (maybe firewall, ani-spam or some port blocking is the cause of this issue). Are you able to send the e-mail for example from outlook from the same machine on which your Kentico CMS is running?

Does your SMTP server require secure (SSL) authentication?

If so, are you using some specific port (587: http://forums.asp.net/t/1002450.aspx) for the STMP server name (e.g. smtp.gmail.com:587)?

I think you can find useful information discussing your error messages on the internet.

Best regards,
Miroslav Remias.

RE:SMTP SSL/NON-SSL Server failed
SSL is not required. The server can connect to port 25 via telnet.

The server is a virtual host server based on linux using cpanel.

Every thing seems to work until Kentico tries to use it to send email.

RE:SMTP SSL/NON-SSL Server failed
Hi,

Are you able to send the e-mail (with the same SMTP details) for example from outlook from the same machine (in your case from virtual host) on which your Kentico CMS is running?

Could you please explain me following?

The server is a virtual host server based on linux using cpanel.

I’m not familiar with cpanel and neither with your configuration, but I would try to send the e-mail from the same environment where you are running your Kentico CMS for testing purposes whether the environment is capable of sending e-mails.

By server in this context do you mean machine where your Kentico CMS is running or some mail server?

There is nothing you can fix in Kentico CMS. We are using standard .NET codes for e-mail sending and it is working just fine. This is the first time some of our customers encountered such issue, so it seems to be your environment based issue.

Best regards,
Miro Remias.
