Hello.

You can try to use RSS Reader available on our marketplace (it´s for Free): http://devnet.kentico.com/Marketplace/Syndication/RSS-Reader.aspx

If you have 5.x version, you should be able to use it too, but you need to change version number in cms_info.xml.export file from <cms_info version="4.0"> to <cms_info version="5.0">

Hello.

As for performance, it is like my colleague Juraj wrote in his answer, moreover it depends also on what data do you feed, how complex XML is, server performance, DB performance, etc.

Anyway, like Juraj mentioned, there is already a requirement for some improvements in this web part and also requirement to new RSS reader web part. I believe it will be implemented in some of the future releases.
