Reports
Our website has been up for 3 months now and I am trying to get reports on page hits and document (.doc, .pdf, etc) dowloalds and I'm not able to find any built in reports or place to find the dowloads for files in the media library. I also havn't found a place where these clicks or downloads are stored in the database.

Has anyone created a report like this? If so, are you willing to share it? If not, what's the point of having a media library when I could do something similar with a simple file system and file attributes?

RE:Reports
Hi,

Have you tried to enable the Web analytics module? If not, please see the Developer's guide for more information. You can find the chapter about web analytics here.

You can also create custom reports.

Best regards,
Juraj Ondrus

RE:Reports
Thanks for the links Juraj, although I have reviewed both prior to posting my initial post. Analytics was enabled the day our site went live. And when I queried the database directly, I wasn't able to find any data on the documents stored in the media library, which is why I posted the question. So maybe I need to reword my question to ask what is the table/view/SQL query to get the clicks/hits/downloads on media library documents?

RE:Reports
Hi,

In the web analytics overview documentation are mentioned its limitations:

Limitations

The Web Analytics module tracks only content and events related to pages managed by Kentico CMS. It doesn't track other content, such as html files or media files (jpg, gif, etc.) that are not served by the CMS.

Since the media library files are not fully handled by Kentico engine and can be referenced directly to disk, web analytics is not able to track them. I am sorry for this inconvenience, but you will need to create custom module to check the media library files downloads.

Best regards,
Juraj Ondrus
