Password Format
Is there a way that I can adjust the password reset to exclude certain characters?

The end users of our website just aren't tech savvy. No matter how many times I explain to them that passwords are case sensitive, or that they can copy and paste them from the reset email, they just can't seem to figure out how to enter: @+|{`!Dk&. Heck, most of the time I get emails that they can't even figure out what some of the symbols are (like pipe).

I know... It's a ridiculous request. But, I am SO sick of having to manually reset dozens of passwords each day. It's a huge waste of time.

Please tell me there's an easy way I can change this.

RE:Password Format
Hi,

you could try to modify the email template first, based on which the email with new password is generated (Site Manager - Development - Email templates - Membership - Forgotten password)

You could add instruction here, tell users that the password is case sensitive and add a list of "lost" characters, so they could be able copy/paste them.

Do you think that they would be able to log in this way?

If you really decide to modify the password generation, please take a look at following
forum post.

Best regards,

RE:Password Format
Thanks for the recommendation, Ivana. I did that 3 days after we went live. It helped reduce the amount of email I was getting for support, but only a little. In the email, I instructed the end users to try each of the following:

- Passwords are case sensitive. Make sure your caps lock is not on, then type in your password making sure that each character is the same case as they appear in the email.

- Highlight your password from the email. Then copy and paste it to the login page. When copying from the email, be careful not to copy any extra characters (like spaces).

- Click on the Forgot your username or password? link again to have another email sent to you with your username and a new password.

I get emails from people that they tried copying and pasting, and it didn't work.
I get emails from people that they can't find the characters on their keyboard.

Like I said - they aren't tech savvy at all.
