Moving Site Directory
When I created my site I created it thinking our project was going to be called GreatGiving. Our website directory is called that, I see that Kentico has used it for directory structures for the Medial Library and the site is called this in Site Manager. We now have changed it to GiveSmart. Soooo the questions are:

1. Can I rename the directory of my website and any directories inside that used to refer to GreatGiving? Like I said there is a folder inside the root of the site code that is called GreatGiving...how do I change this?

2. Renaming the site at the SiteManager side of things, will that cause problems in the code and database?

3. What if I wanted to change the name of our database which also says GreatGiving and change it to something else. What would I need to do other than change the web.config connection string?

Thanks!

RE:Moving Site Directory
Hi,

1. You will need to manually update also all links to the media files which are on your web site and change the path to the file system directory. You can rename the folder, or maybe better just change the site code name in Site manager and this will create new folder for media library, then copy the files over and change the links.

2. and 3. I do not see any issues here. In 3. you just need to change the connection string.

RE:Moving Site Directory
I am just getting to this now as we had to get the site out as it was named previously. If I were to rename to the display name but leave the code name the same, that wont recreate the media library folder will it?

If I were to rename the display name and the code name, is there a way to easily remap all references to the old media library or is that going to have to be done manually?

RE:Moving Site Directory
Hi,

changing just the display name won't change the media libraries folder. Changing the code name will change the folder name and in this case you will have to move the files manually as well as update links to the media files.

RE:Moving Site Directory
Hi,

Right now you can use this module available on our Marketplace - broken link checker which will check the links or your web site whether are the working correctly or not and according to it you will know which links have to be changed.
