Access to particular part of the document's tree
I'm trying to follow the instructions in the Knowledge Base article "Access to particular part of the documents tree" using Kentico version 5.0.3656.

After (I think) following all the instructions in the knowledge base article, I try to login to the cmsdesk as a user assigned only to RoleX. Immediately after entering the username & password and pressing the "Log on" button, I receive the following message:

Your UI profile is not granted with permission to access this section. Please contact the administrator.

Any suggestions?

Hello.

That KB article is written for version 4.x.

Since version 5.x, we use UI personalization feature. You need set your role for proper UI elements. You can see more details here: http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/ui_personalization_overview.htm

RE:Access to particular part of the document's tree
Thanks for the link that helped (mostly ;) for a problem I am trying to solve. My scenario is that I have a number of users that I only want to give access/show certain parts of the Content tree. I am able to lock it down as I want except the last item in both lists. I want to hide the top level folders of the tree just under the root. Is this possible?

User A logs in.
-they can read the Root of the site
-they can read Folder A (read only permission set)
-they can read and modify Document A1, Document A2 (read and modify permission set)
-they can see, but not read Folder B (I WANT TO HIDE FOLDER B FROM USER A)[/i]

User A logs in.
-they can read the Root of the site
-they can read Folder B (read only permission set, works)
-they can read and modify Document B1, Document B2 (read and modify permission set)
-they can see, but not read Folder A (I WANT TO HIDE FOLDER A FROM USER B)[/i]

RE:Access to particular part of the document's tree
Hello,

As it turns out this feature isn't currently supported. However it should be available in the upcoming 6.0 version of Kentico.
