could you please provide exact steps which I could follow in order to reproduce the issue?

I tried to clone Datalist web part in Listings and Viewers section with checked option Clone web part files (if they do not exist yet) and web part was cloned correctly. The original one was not changed.

What did you mean when you said the web part disappeared? Its original files were deleted or you could not find it in the Site Manager - Development - Web parts section?
