Is the Scheduled Task for "Content Publishing" Task necessary?
I have quite a few "small" portal sites. I see tens of thousands of executions for this task. What is it exactly and is it totally necessary on small sites that don't schedule content.

Please advise,

Hello,

Basically, this scheduled task ensures publishing of documents that use workflow. If you set publish from/to values to documents that use workflow, they will not be published before they are approved. The publishing is ensured by the "Content Publishing" scheduled process that is executed every minute by default.
