Issue with lang query string
I am encountering an issue with people in Europe accessing the English version of our landing page that we are creating. I currently have 3 languages set up English, French and German. Each have the same URL and I am using the query string to switch between them, ?lang=us-EN for English, ?lang=fr-FR for French and ?lang=de-DE for German.

I am in the United States and can access all three perfectly fine but I have co-workers in Germany and France stating that they cannot see the English version but can see both the French and German. When they go to the English version they just get the last version they viewed. All my co-workers can view it fine in the US and I have tried my computer at home and as well my cell phone and all works perfectly for US.

I’ve tried doing multiple things short of changing the URL and nothing seems to work for them. I would like to use the query string because this is given out and as well very easy to put a link on the page to switch between.

I am officially stumped on how I can view it but they can't.

What might be going on here? I read that Google Analytics will hinder the query string but wouldn’t I be getting the same issue if that was the problem?

Thanks for any help!

RE:Issue with lang query string
Hi,

What are the culture settings set for your site and for the users (e.g. public user)?
What are the culture settings in their browsers?
Do they have user interface tab opened within the same browser?
What is the exact version of CMS you are using? In 5.x versions were fixed some bugs regarding cultures - could you please apply the latest hotfix for your version or upgrade to version 6?

Best regards,
Juraj Ondrus

RE:Issue with lang query string
Thanks for the reply Juraj.

Able to view English (US), French, German and Japanese

What are the culture settings in their browsers?
I would believe that they are their countries natural language. IE German for those in Germany.

I need to double check this.

Do they have user interface tab opened within the same browser?
No

v5.5.3789, we have an update to 5.5R2 and eventually 6 in the works but currently this project goes out tomorrow.

RE:Issue with lang query string
Issue was solved... I ended up changing the site's "Default visitor culture" to English US instead of Automatic.
