Is there any way to have a repeater which pulls data from two different data source webparts on the same page?

I have multiple websites and would like to share resources between them and display them on whichever site the user is currently on.

My logic was that I could have two data source webparts, one pulling news from one site and the other pulling news from a different site. A repeater webpart would then merge the two data sources together into a list.

I realise this isn't possible with these webparts, but wondered if anyone had a solution using this logic?
