Are there any advantages to loading style sheets into the administrator interface and associating it with a site as opposed to simply referencing the style sheet from the masterpage. Having the style sheet loaded into the content DB means you can’t have it in source control and is harder for designers to modify.

Ok. So I discovered the check out feature which addresses that issue.

Hi,

Yes, you can use the check out, but there is no big difference when using styles from DB and from the disk. As you mentioned, you can add the file into the source control when it is linked on the disk. This is probably the biggest advantage.
