We want to remove the right column from the master page, and create two page templates each with the right column, but differing webparts. Whats the quickest way to do this?

Hi,

I'm not sure if there is any other quicker way other then you have described.
To edit template layout you need to access Template properties via "Edit template properties". Then you just edit template layout as required.
