Understanding license allocation
Hi,

I would appreciate it if someone can help me understand how the kentico licensing works. let me explain my dilemma:

I have 2 x website licenses and they were allocated to my main domain e.g. "mycompany.com"

I want to create one website with three different audiences that will see the same content but in a different way e.g.

a. The public will see a marketing view of my website containing company specific information and will access the website via "www".mycompany.com

b. My contracted sales force will see the marketing content as well as specific content relevant to them e.g. sales information and reporting and will access the website via "partners".mycompany.com

c. Customers of my sales force (consumers that purchase from them) will see the same marketing content, but filtered specifically for the sales force person that they are purchasing from e.g. if they purchase from Joe Blogs, they will access the website via "joeblogs".mycompany.com

So you see that I in effect have three "gateways" into the same content here:

www.mycompany.com for the public
partners.mycompany.com for my sales force
joeblogs.mycompany.com for the customers of my sales force

Now how do I configure this in Kentico? It seems that kentico only allows you to access the url that the license was allocated to e.g. http://mycompany.com - This will not work as it is missing a host record e.g. "www" or "partners" or "joeblogs".

So then it means that Kentico need you to have the FQDN in your license url which means that I need 3 licenses - one for each of my possible host records as indicated above.

Do I understand this correctely?

is there another way to do this?

Appreciate your feedback

RE:Understanding license allocation
Hello,

Actually it works the way you've described - You need unique license key for each domain, including sub-domains. However it is no problem - the sites in described scenario have the same content (well, showing it different way on each sub-domain), so you can run it with 1 web site license (please don't mess it with license key itself). Therefore, in case you have bought this license, you can write at support@kentico.com or sales@kentico.com and we will provide you with appropriate license key in return.

Best regards
