Separate Servers for web and db
Hi - does Kentico CMS work on separate servers for the web side and the DB side? We have a database with our accounting system that we want to integrate with Kentico but we can't put this out side the firewall. We have a web server that will be outside the firewall. Is this possible? Thank you, Gary

RE:Separate Servers for web and db
Sure, it is possible.
Your DB and web server can be placed at diffrent sides of the World, if you want.

However, the DB server must be accessible from the Web server thourgh your firewall.

Do I need two Kentico licenses for this?

How many licenses do I need to support this scenario?

RE:Separate Servers for web and db
Hi,

If you are asking on how many licenses for Kentico CMS you need, than you need one license - in case there will be one web site.

It also depends on type of the license. If you will buy one web site license, you can use it for one web site only. But if you will buy a server license, you can use it for multiple sites within one physical server (web server).

And also, you need to have a license for the SQL server ;-)

For more information about licensing, please see our web site.

RE:Separate Servers for web and db
I'm sorry but can you clarify - I just want to make sure I get this licensing right:

You said: "And also, you need to have a license for the SQL server ;-)"

Do you mean a SQL Server license or an additional Kentico License as well?

Thanks -Gary

RE:Separate Servers for web and db
Juraj mean SQL Server license. :)

You should have:
1. Two licenses for Microsoft Windows Server (for Web server and for SQL server)
2. One license for Microsoft SQL Server.
3. One web-site license for Kentico CMS for each site you want to run (or one server license for Kentico CMS for each Web server).
