Kentico clean install
Hello,

Being impressed by the capabilities of Kentico CMS, I'm wondering if it would be possible to do some sort of core/clean install of the system without any modules and webparts being installed except for the most critical ones for the application to run.

I ask this because I would like to use Kentico as form of application framework for a business application where would really wouldn't need somewhere like 80/90% of the shipped modules (blog, forum news etc etc etc).

Is there any way to have a really really clean installation of Kentico?

Kind regards...

Hi,

There are certain folders which you can strip out that you can exclude from using on the production server. You can also pre-compile the site into assemblies which also makes it lightweight. With regards to deleting modules/web parts i'm not quite sure but would be interesting to hear what Kentico have got to say.

Useful links

I would like to see Kentico release some kind of a core-install package with only the most needed system-files.

Thanks for the links btw!

RE:Kentico clean install
Hi,

Unfortunately everything is delivered "out-of-the-box" - all modules and web parts etc.
However, we plan to make e.g. the modules to be like "plugins" and they will be delivered separately.

Right now, you can try to remove only the files from project folder you are not using - e.g. the web sites page templates frm CMSTemplates folder and also in App_Data folder are Install and Templates folders - you can remove the files. But then you won't have the web site templates available.

Best Regards,
