Installation issue
I get a few errors when trying to install the new version of Kentico (4.0). I installed the new site using the webinstaller.exe app (.NET 3.5). Next, as with the previous version, I set up a shell database manually in MSSQL. Then, using IE, I navigated to the new site in order to run the database build. At the step where it's about to start building all the tables, etc., I get: Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Timestamp: Thu, 19 Feb 2009 03:16:38 UTC

What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

RE:Installation issue
Hi,
I just want to let know other users in case of similar problem, that this issue was resolved by installing the web site in a sub domain (sub.domain.com) and not in subfolder (domain.com/folder).

RE:Installation issue
Can you be more specific regarding your issue? Have you actually installed Kentico on your server? So, when you say you've designed the site, do you mean though the CMSDesk tool? Also, please post any error messages you may be receiving. I'm happy to try to help you, but I need more info.

RE:Installation issue
Are you talking about the Virtual Lab demo that lasts 7 days? I don't know if it's possible to migrate it seamlessly. You'd probably have to export any custom pages and take a copy of the CSS, etc. Do you have Kentico installed and configured in your live environment? If this is your scenario, you may have to open a new support forum topic asking this, as other people may not read/respond to this one as it was opened originally for another issue.

RE:Installation issue
Within the site manager, you can try clicking on Sites and then click on the Export Site icon. Upon the setup of your Kentico live environment, you could import this. Perrsonally, I've not tried this, but it looks like this is a possible solution.

RE:Installation issue
Hello, well the export functionality isn't allowed on Kentico Virtual LAB, because it's only for test purposes and evaluation of product. So I'm sure it won't be possible to obtain design you have created. I'm sorry for bad news.
Best Regards, Zbysek Nemec.

RE:Installation issue
Hi, If you have not designed your web site in Kentico CMS Virtual Lab environment but in your development environment on your local machine, you are able to use import/export module of Kentico CMS to deploy your web site to your live server. For more information about this module, please refer to following section from the developer's guide: http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/export_and_import_overview.htmThank you. RE:Installation issue
I just upgraded from 3.1 to 4.0. On each of my saved templates, the layout was copied so there are two layouts: 1 is correct, the other is grayed out. There is a "not in layout" message for the grayed-out zones. I can remove those zones by removing the webpart attached to each zone. Nothing is broken, per se, but is there a way to keep this from happening?
Thanks, Richard

RE:Installation issue
Hi,
Just for reference for other users (I have already sent you a e-mail message few days ago).
The gray zones and web parts are there because you have removed some zones or web parts from the layout, but they stayed in the template definition. Now, this is new feature so you can restore them or remove them if you do not need it. This was added because meny users have removver e.g. the editable region from the page template what took effect also on other pages and they were confused about how to restore it back - so now the web part is "gray" and you can restore it back very easy.
