web.config error efter installment

hi there i just installed the free edition and when its finished copying the files and then press the link to the site the site gives me this error :

out from what i can see it complains about a dublication in the web.config file ? is there a fix for this ?

Member	maddragon-siriusvej - 9/16/2009 5:34:21 AM RE:web.config error efter installment hi miroslav yes there is another web.config in the wwwroot itselfe do that im runnig multiple applications and i got my main asp.net/c# one running in the main wwroot hence why im running yours in a subfolder tho i never seen it complain about that before tho.

So, this might be the reason of the error message. I would recommend you to set up your web sites in different way. You can try to read following Blog post from our CTO on how to do this:

I can look at the website through localhost:49878/wwwroot/default.aspx, but when I type localhost or 127.0.0.1, I got that error page

Hi,

Are you sure that your web site on your IIS is correctly registered?

Are you running the web site in root of your default web site on your IIS or in some virtual directory?

Have you tried to read our documentation about running web site in virtual directory?

Could you please post the exception which you are getting?

RE:web.config error efter installment

I have the same error. I just downloaded the installer for Kentico 6 (but it downloaded Kentico 7) then I installed it to wwwroot. The first error I saw was "Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded." I went into IIS manager and made sure absolutely everything was pointing at asp.net 4. Then the error changes to the one mentioned above. I don't have two web.config files. All the same problems when I tried on a fresh amazon ec2 instance also. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello,

Could you please be more specific what error are you getting with "Then the error changes to the one mentioned above."

Also this thread is related to Kentico version 4 which is actually not supported anymore, so in the future, please create a new thread under appropriate version.

Were you installing Kentico on your local machine? Do you have .NET 4.0 installed? And did you install the Kentico with this version during the installation process?
