I would be very thankful if someone could give me an example how to use them, but not on contribution list. :) I figured how to use them on BizForms and system tables...but not on these two...

Hi,

As far as I know, Alternative Forms which are used for document types can be use only in Contribution list and edit contribution web parts (or in custom web parts). So, the only example here is Contribution list. Regarding your second question, when using custom tables together with Alternative Forms, you are able to use these Alternative Forms in web part which support Alternative Forms and custom tables. They are mentioned for displaying and for editing of the data.

If You could only clear me one more thing, it would be great.

You said that I can use Alternative Forms with Custom tables only in specific web parts. Could You point me which web parts? I just couldn't find them (maybe I wasn't looking at the right place).

As far as I know, Custom tables use three web parts: repeater, data grid, and data list. Here I can't choose alternative forms. I can use transformations for selecting and presenting the data.

Alternative Forms can be used in following web parts:

- BizForm
- (Group) Contributions list
- (Group) Edit contributions
- Custom registration form
- My account (Personal settings)
- My profile
- User public profile
- Group public profile

Yes, you are right. I have misunderstood our developer about the Alternative Forms. I'm really sorry about this. Currently you are able to use Alternative forms together with custom tables only in CMS Desk -> Tools -> Custom tables when editing/inserting data to your custom tables:

In future we might develop web parts that would be capable of using Alternative forms to update your custom tables from live site.
