RE:What's the step of adding a flash on our site?
Using the WYSIWYG editor, adding a Flash element is easy.
User image
1. Select the Flash icon (bottom row, second icon)
2. Select the SWF file you have uploaded to your document tree using the "Browse Server" button
3. Select the OK button

OR

Using the Design tab while editing your template:
User image
1. Select "Add Web Part" in a zone (e.g. "zoneLeft" above)
2. Select Media > Flash Web part in the tree
3. Enter the Flash URL* under Flash Properties and select OK

That's it. I hope this helps.

*This can be the Document Alias in your document tree.

I've try using WYSIWYG and and select flash icon, next when i try to select the swf file and upload, it shows the following error swf file is not an allow file type Fyi i did uploaded a swf file to the host server, just a thought, to get it working, do i need to copy the html code to include the flash into my webpage as well?

Lastly i too follow the second part of your guide but then the image or swf is not showing when i view under my url

Hi Daniel,
You have to add flv extension into list of allowed extensions in Settings ->Media libraries -> Media file allowed extensions.

Hi,

The settings in Site manager should look like this:
User image
You add a semicolon and "swf" and hit the save button. Do not forget to select your site in top left corner or check that your site inherits the global settings.

Then you can use the mentioned function of WYSIWYG editor. You would select Browse server and Media libraries tab. Upload you swf file into the media library. If there is no media library you should create a new one in CMSDesk -> Tools -> Media libraries

When the file gets uploaded use Paste flash and save it.

I hope this will help you.

RE:What's the step of adding a flash on our site?
Hello,

I am happy it is working for you now:)

If the banner means the Logo image you could select the master page (root in the content tree), switch to the Design tab and delete the current editable image web part and insert a new web part: Text -> Editable text.

Then you may switch to Page tab and insert the flash via WYSIWYG editor.

Btw, our documentation and tutorials are here: http://devnet.kentico.com/Documentation.aspx

If you use a sample Corporate site I would recommend to read Tutorial for Portal engine: http://devnet.kentico.com/downloads/KenticoCMS_Tutorial.pdf

If you edit the Personal site you could study the Personal Guide: http://devnet.kentico.com/downloads/KenticoCMS_PersonalGuide.pdf

PDFs could be uploaded into the media library in CMSDesk -> Tools -> Media libraries -> edit -> Files tab -> Upload file

and then you could insert a new link to this PDF with the help of WYSIWYG editor again. You would select the chain icon to insert a link -> Browse server -> Media libraries tab -> Paste link.

RE:What's the step of adding a flash on our site?
Hi,

I am trying to use an external url to show the flash rather than uploading my own video. As a matter of fact, I am trying to use this url http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/25933859#25933859.

But the flash does not show up.

Your help is greatly appreciate for any help.

RE:What's the step of adding a flash on our site?
Hello.

I can see that you have posted this question twice. Let me copy my answer from previous forum thread:

You can use external url, when you are inserting flash using FCKeditor -> Insert / Edit Flash -> Flash Properties -> URL. This url must points directly to appropriate flash file. When I open your link (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/25933859#25933859) in my browser, I can see that this is ordinary web page with flash on it, but not direct link to some flash file, so you cannot use this url.

Best Regards,
Radek Macalik

If you visit the page you will see a small button below the video that is labeled "embed".

Click it and you will be given code to copy and past into your site;

<div><iframe height="339" width="425" src="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22425001/vp/25933859#25933859" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe><p style="font-size:11px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #999; margin-top: 5px; background: transparent; text-align: center; width: 425px;">Visit msnbc.com for <a style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;" href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com">Breaking News</a>, <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032507" style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;">World News</a>, and <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032072" style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;">News about the Economy</a></p></div>

Good luck!
