Editable Region not working with inherited template
I want to create a simple article section for my web using built in "template with editable region" --> simple text and left menu.

First, I created a new page menu item for parent node called "Interesting articles" using the template I stated above. Then, I created some child nodes with "inherited template", say "article 1" and "article 2".

When I go to CMSDesk and edit the parent node ("Interesting Article") I saw the editable region with html editor in the page. But, if I go to the child node ("article 1" or "article 2") and try to edit the page content, the HTML editor won't show up. I end up searching for similar behavior in community site --> Example node and found that it use no template inheritance for this problem. To achieve similar result like I want, I must create the child node and assign the template to the child node (no inheritance).

Is there anyone can explain to me if this is a bug or just me not understanding the template concept? Please help

RE:Editable Region not working with inherited template
Hello.

This behavior is weird, I was unable to reproduce it on my 4.0 version. In general, when you inherit template from parent page, you inherit all its web parts, which works also in your case (you can see them on child pages). But you should be able to modify properties of web parts (e.g. Path property, Show for document types, etc.) - this change then take effect to all pages using the same template. But editableText web part is a little bit different - you should be able to fill its content on Page tab (not Design tab) and this content can be independent for pages using the same template. So, you should be able to edit both properties and content of web parts also on child pages. I am not sure why are you unable to do so. If you site is live, would it be possible to grand uz with access to CMSDesk, so we can examine it? Or, if it is local site only, could you please export it and send attached to support@kentico.com? Thank you.
