backup or save a version of my site on the free version of Kentico
is there a way on the free version of Kentico 4.1 to backup my site within Site Manager.
or the ability to save a version of the site.
or copy the site so that I would have two identical sites, then I can experiment on one of them?

or is this not available on the free version?

Hello.

I believe you could use an export/import functionality. For more information, please read our Developer´s guide (http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/index.html), Managing sites and settings -> Export and import chapter.

thanks Radek,

exporting works ok, but when I import I don't see any packages to import.

according to the screen shot in the developer's guide I am supposed to see the zip files that I have exported in step 1. but my list is empty.

Hello.

Did you copy export package into CMSSiteUtils/Import folder, placed in project folder of a site, where you want to do import? Also, are both instances of the same version?

Hello.

You cannot copy it via UI of Kentico CMS. It must be done in your file system. For example, your web project folder can be installed in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\KenticoCMS. Then, the export folder is in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\KenticoCMS\CMSSiteUtils\Export and the import folder in: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\KenticoCMS\CMSSiteUtils\Import. You can copy export package e.g. using your file manager.
