Emails stuck in email queue with waiting status
Hello,

We have recently started to use Kentico CMS and so are still getting to grips with its features.

We have a number of forms set-up using Bizform all of which are set to send a notification email when they are completed.

After testing initially though and receiving no problems, now the site is live the email queue now traps all the notifications.

Turning the queue off in the Site Manager lets the emails through as expected.

Would anyone know as to why the queue would trap these notification emails?

Thanks,

Chris

RE:Emails stuck in email queue with waiting status
Hello,

It seems you are having problems with the scheduler. Could you please check the Event log if there are any exceptions regarding this issue? The Event log can be found in CMS Site Manager -> Administration. Could you please also check, if there is a scheduled task with the name E-mail queue sender and E-mail queue cleaner in the list? What version are you using?

Best regards,
Boris Pocatko

RE:Emails stuck in email queue with waiting status
Hello Boris,

Thanks for your prompt response!

We are using version 4.0

I have both the email queue sender and email queue cleaner in my scheduler.

After checking the event log as you suggested I've noticed the following errors for the scheduler:

Event ID: 72870
Event type: Error
Event time: 11/13/2009 8:23:40 AM
Source: Scheduler
Event code: Run
IP address:
Description: EXCEPTION MESSAGE: The remote name could not be resolved: 'csbp.com.au'; STACK TRACE: at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadDataInternal(Uri address, WebRequest& request)
at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadData(Uri address)
at CMS.Scheduler.SchedulingHelper.RunSchedulerRequest(String url)
Machine name:
Event URL:

csbp.com.au is our URL which internally we are having trouble accessing at present due to firewall issues. Could this be the reason the queue isn't being processed?

As an update to this problem, I tried turning off the email queue last night and the emails are sent and received as expected.

Thanks,

Chris

RE:Emails stuck in email queue with waiting status
Hello,

In that case it is a bug in the 4.0 version, which is fixed in the 4.1 version. Please upgrade to the newest version. There was a problem with the scheduler. For more information please see the following article.

RE:Emails stuck in email queue with waiting status
Thank you for your help Boris,

The problems explained in the Problems with scheduler knowledge base article looks like the one for us.

I shall organise an upgrade and go from there.

Thanks,

Chris
