Well, Document pager webpart shows as much documents as you choose (using path and Document types properties etc.). There are no special possibilities of customizing pager behavior.

Therefore, I would recommend you using Repeater in cooperation with Unipager webpart for your purpose. Unipager is pretty much adjustable using pager properties and templates.
