Media Library
On my site I have various sections which for example have lists of brochures that are available to download. These are set up as specific document types and displayed with a repeater. Although this works ok I've never felt it's an ideal solution for what I want.

Could someone tell me if the new media library module in version 4.0 would be a suitable alternative to display these documents for download? Or is it more geared towards images etc?

RE:Media Library
Hi,

The Media libraries module enables storing of different content files, such as photos, sound, videos, package files, presentation files, etc. This means that not only media files, but also other types of files can be stored in the libraries.

Media library files are stored directly in the file system, organized into folders. Physical path to the root of all libraries within the specified site is <sitename>/media, it is not customizable. Media library belongs either to a specified group or is global for a specified site.

▪ Support for storage of large amount of files (photo galleries)
▪ Support for storage of large files (video files)
▪ Each group of users can have any number of libraries
▪ Files can be uploaded to the libraries externally, e.g. using FTP

There are also several web parts for displaying the files so the users can download or upload the files.

You can install the 4.0RC version and review it on the Community sample site. Also, in the developer's guide placed on you disk (c:\Program Files\KenticoCMS\4.0RC\Documentation\) is the Media library described.

Best Regards,
Juraj Ondrus
