A few months ago I submitted a ticket about not being able to edit webparts or even view content areas (editable text areas) even though I am a global administrator (the ticket number is Ticket:33810). I could never isolate the issue so I moved on with the conversion process of the rest of our site.

Now I am back at needed AD login for the CMS Desk and Site manager and I am facing the same bug again.

This is what is happening exact:

1) I have a user who is a global administrator, external user, active, and an editor.
2) I can see everything in the cms desk (the design tab, the site manager link, etc.)
3) I can go into the site manager and I have access to all the usual admin areas.
4) I do not see the webpart information on the design tab (the web part zones etc...)
5) My main template has 2 editable text areas on it - I can see the content, however, I cannot edit the content.
6) The check in/checkout/save links do not work

I have tried everything to get this to work (the account has every role and still nothing works).

please advise
