Excerpt or intro for blog posts
Hi there

Another very common feature for blogs are excerpts. They are optional resumes for a post and could be used for the complete listing on the first page instead of showing the complete post.

It is slightly different then just displaying the first n characters or words since this paragraph could be written in a certain manner.

RE:Excerpt or intro for blog posts
Hi Ralph,
You can achieve this using a new field for particular document type. This field could be named Excerpt and user can optionally enter the content to this field. Then, in repeater using transformation you can display this field in posts listing.

Anyway, we will consider to add a easier functionality to some of the future version.

Hi Juray

I am aware that a lot of the requested features could be build with an extension of the current version.

However, I am very afraid to extend existing modules, like Blogs, Newsletter etc, since I assume that in the future it will be very difficult to follow your upgrades.

So if I add an excerpt field in the document type blogpost and call it Excerpt and in version 3.2 you will add the same feature calling it "Summary", it may be a lot of work and worries to migrate the two versions.

So I rather wait. Keep up the work, you are doing great!

RE:Excerpt or intro for blog posts
Hi again,
Yes I understand you. But, also after the upgrade if there will be a new document type (or modified current), you can still rename the field name to your needs or to your "older" name from previous version. It might not be so difficult but I really do not know how the developers would provide this functionality so it is hard to say it now exactly.

Thank you also for your compliments!
