RE:Importing Web Site
Hi,

Could you please confirm that you are exporting the web site (http://www.kentico.com/docs/devguide/exporting_a_site.htm) and not the objects only (http://www.kentico.com/docs/devguide/exporting_objects.htm)?

RE:Importing Web Site
I was just about to post a new thread that I was having an importing problem.

In my case I have done some work on the shared hosting site. I have now setup a new Kentico site on my own machine (localhost) and wanted to export from the shared hosting site and bring my localhost machine in sync.

The export works perfect. I was did a complete export and it went through fine. I ftp the exported file to CMSSiteUtils\Export on my machine. I then copied the file to CMSSiteUtils\Import. I started the import on my local machine. It shows the file that I want to import from (export_20080911_0931.zip) I take *Preselect All and hit Next. It says that it is uncompressing the files and when done goes to the next screen. Under the left hand menu -- it says Imported objects but there is nothing underneath it. Even if you click on Imported objects it does not expand (as if it is empty). I take all the defaults (leave all checkboxes checked) and hit Next. Nothing happens ... it just keeps looping back to this page asking "Please select objects that should be transferred".

I even looked at the zip file to see if it was empty. But it is not. There are folders and files in it.

RE:Importing Web Site
Hi guys,

This is very strange issue. Could you please send us those export packages (or send a link where we can download it from if it is too large) so we can inspect them if they contain the data? Please send them to support@kentico.com and refer to this forum. I will try to get back to you ASAP.

Thank you in advance and I am sorry for this inconvenience.

Best Regards,
Juraj Ondrus

RE:Importing Web Site
Hi again,

We haven't received any message with the packages yet. Maybe they are too big. I have also checked the spam box. Could you please put them on some FTP or on some web location and send us links to download them?

Thank you in advance.

RE:Importing Web Site
Hi again,

I have imported them into the 3.1 version quite without problems - 2 packages went just fine, 1 was imported on second attempt and one kept hanging. I have discussed it with our developers and there were some problems with callbacks and javascripts. I have then tried it in the 3.1a version and everything was imported with no problems.

Could you please try to upgrade - http://www.kentico.com/Download/Upgrades.aspx?

RE:Importing Web Site
Hi,

I'm having a similar problem. I'm finding that when I export my site and import it at another location I get everthing as expected but the pages have no content.

The objects and site layout is all there, just no page content.

Maybe I'm missing something =-)

Kind Regards
Shane Harris

Could you please describe us the exact steps you are performing? What is the version of CMS you are exporting from and into?

If it is possible, could you please send the export pacakge to support@kentico.com so we can inspect it?

Thank you in advance.

This is a very early version of the site I've been working on with no css/images.

I'm simply using export site in the site manager and import all in the site creation wizard. I have al tryed importing into an existing site with the same result. I get a structure but the pages have no content.

RE:Importing Web Site
Hi Shane,

Thank you for your message.
This is something like a bug in the current version. I'm very sorry for this inconvenience. We will try to fix it in the nearest version.
During the import process, all language versions are preselected for your site and then imported and because your type of license doesn't have support for multiple languages, you probably see only one version of document which wasn't created yet.

When you go through the import procedure, please select only language culture which contains your data. It could be found in Development->Cultures on the left content tree during the step 3 of import procedure.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Best Regards,

Zbysek Nemec

RE:Importing Web Site
Hi,

Thanks for the help, we are getting closer I think.

It is most definitly to do with the culture. I will look at this more later tonight and post my findings.

RE:Importing Web Site
Hi,

Just for anyone else having the same issues as me. I had to export making sure I only had the Culture I was going to import too selected. Otherwise even when selecting the correct culture at import the UI culture would be set to the first imported one.

Thanks for the help

RE:Importing Web Site
We ran into this same problem a couple of weeks ago.
I went through the same kinds of interactions with tech support via email where they said they couldn't reproduce it, and eventually stumbled on the culture problem.

Suggestion
It would be great if there were an option on the cultures page to select all or none as it is somewhat tedious to go through a list of 200+ cultures and manually deselect them all.
