Exporting attachements
Hello,

I'm trying to do an export-import on 3.1a, and it appears that my attachements which are stored in the db aren't exported, and consequently not imported? All documents and everything else appears to work but not those ones. What would be the best way to ensure those are exported as well?

Thanks,
/Johan

RE:Exporting attachements
After some more thought I guess this has to do with the fact that attachments are not covered by the import-export procedure? So I would either have to copy the database too or use content staging? Or am I missing something?

Thanks again,
/Johan

RE:Exporting attachements
Hi,

Which attachments do you mean?
do you mean the attachment files that are uploaded to some document e.g. using file selector field on the Form tab? These attachments are exported.

Could you please describe us step by step how are you exporting and importing the package?

Best Regards,

RE:Exporting attachements
Yes, those are the ones I mean as well as uploaded with an image selector, as well as uploading a file directly e.g New > File.

I start by exporting the entire site, preselecting all objects, but unselecting the Export global folders, Export site folders and Export ASPX templates folder, as well as removing unused cultures as they are otherwised enabled on the imported site. Is that the problem - does everything have to be selected when I want export the attachments?

Then I export it, no errors, and everything looks just like the site that I exported from except all images are missing. What happens is that after the import everything appears correctly in the document tree, but the images aren't there - they appear as they are missing (or broken in the sense that IE displays them as broken image) when you select one, as well as if they are in an inline editable content placeholder.

Best regards,
/Johan

RE:Exporting attachements
Hi again,

What is your setting for the file storage? If you are storing files in file system and you have unselected the export of the folders, the attachments are not exported.

If you have set the file storage to DB, could you please send us the export package to support@kentico.com?
