RE:how to upload
Hello,

Could you please go through related article in Developer's guide?

http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/deployment_to_the_live_server.htm

It shows how to deploy your site to the live server.

Best regards

RE:how to upload
i have tried to export my site as directed but cannot find it in <web project>\CMSSiteUtils\Export.

Also i am unsure if what is meant by Run Kentico CMS Web Installer on your local development computer.

I am not sure where to find it...

please if some one could give me a step by step with no jargon and the exact place to find the things i need to do... Thanks

RE:how to upload
Hi,

well, you can use Filezilla (could be any ftp client).

Please take a look at deploying to shared hosting server. It's described a little bit clearer:

http://devnet.kentico.com/docs/devguide/index.html

In general you need now to run 'Kentico CMS Web Installer' (you can find it in Start -> All Programs -> Kentico CMS), copy all deployed files via ftp onto the server and go through the database setup wizard (by navigating to /default.aspx page). You will have new installation of Kentico CMS on your server and you need to import your previously developed site.

RE:how to upload
Hi Cheryl,

if you use the classic export and import the export package is only one zipped file. The number of included files depends on your site. The huge number of files could be in <your web site folder>/<code name of your site>/files – if you use store files in File System (CMSSiteManager -> Settings -> Files -> Site: <your site> -> Store Files In File System: checked).

RE:how to upload
I am not sure i entirely understand.

So should i just wait for all the files to upload (will probably take several hours)

RE:how to upload
Hi Cheryl,

I would recommend you so. I was only trying to explain you why the number of files could be so large.
