Removing Files Post-Install
We have a few Kentico sites in a solution. There are almost 5,500 files in the solution.

Now that the project is mature I was wondering if there were any files that are unused that we can remove to reduce project size. The main reason we want to is to reduce site build time, Visual Studio loading time and Source Control overhead, for developer speed.

For example, I see the "CMSInstall" folder contains ~400 SQL scripts and other files. Is it possible to remove this, or is it used for anything else? Likewise, the App_Themes folder is ~1,200 files after I removed the unused themes. Many of those are in folders for "ecommerce", which is a module we do not use.

Any ideas, suggestions? We are on 3.1a

RE:Removing Files Post-Install
Hi Rick,

We don't recommend removing any file(s) from project folder as all files has some purpose and we can't guarantee Kentico CMS will work properly after removing any file(s).

You could eventually put only folders where you are planning to make any changes to source control.
