Problem using flv after imported to CMS
Hi Kentico team,

I imported flv to the CMS as CMS.File because I want to enable searching on them.
Once imported, I haven't figure out how to have a valid url wnding with .flv, for example

Flv in local file system
http://domain.com/physical_folder/dummy.flv

Flv imported to cms
http://domain.com/cms_folder/cms_file.aspx

In Site Manager, I tried
1. enabled "Store Files in File System", "Store Files in Database" and "Redirect files to disk"
2. Also enabled "Use permanent URLs", set "Friendly URL Extension" to empty

Then in CMS Desk
3. In the "Form" tab for that flv (CMS.File), the "Live URL" becomes http://domain.com/cms_folder/cms_file without extension, which is normal due to step 2
4. However, if I paste that "Live URL" into a browser, it returns 404 error. Same if I play around with File name (to add a .flv) or alias name, the Live URL updates but always return 404 when load in browser.

I have to pass a valid flv url to a swf (has flv player embedded) so I can play different flv videos. Imagine a flv gallery, similar to the cms photo gallery. Provide a list of flv thumbnails and on click, pass this flv url to the swf and start playing.

Would you please give me guideline on how to achieve this? Thanks in advance.
For your info
1. The flv ftp to file system always work but I cannot search their description
2. Adding a .aspx to the Live URL or enable the default .aspx friendly URL gives a valid path when load in browser, but also failed when use in flv player

Regards,
GC

RE:Problem using flv after imported to CMS
Hi,

I am afraid but the file extensions are not supported in our CMS in current version. This will be supported from the next version 3.2. I am sorry for this inconvenience. If you want to have the file uploaded into the CMS, you will need to use a query string in the URL to this file so the URL will end with the file extension. We have tried it on a .swf file and it worked.

I hope it will help.

Best Regards,
Juraj Ondrus
