Adding fields to masterpage (CMS.Root)
Is it possible to add fields to the master page?

There are a number of controls on the master page that need to read data from the page, which should be configurable by the end user, but it seems that it is not supported.

I have tried modifying the database to allow support but end up with errors when trying to create new pages.

Hi,
you can edit the master page like the other pages. In CMS desk you can add and remove web parts and also edit the source html code in the Master page tab.

Please len me know if I can be of any further help.

hi,

thanks for your response.

what i am referring to is fields in the "form" tab of the master page. i have developed web parts which read data from a page's form, and some of them are deployed on the master page.

thanks

RE:Adding fields to masterpage (CMS.Root)
Hi Luke,
So, if I have understand it right, you want to add some custom fields to the CMS.Root document type?
In Site Manager -> Development -> Document types -> CMS.Root -> Fields.
I am afraid that this is not possible.

Please let me know if I can be of any further help.

Best Regards,
